Will my organisation be subject to the AI Act?
ANSWER
The AI Act applies, among others, to entities using AI systems. AI systems may include tools provided e.g. by Microsoft or Google as part of office suites (Copilot and Gemini). Machine translation tools (e.g. DeepL) may also constitute such systems. Employees may also use tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini to e.g. make their work easier. This means that inventory of these systems is necessary. In such cases, your organisation will be subject to the AI Act. However, the scope of obligations depends on what risks are associated with a given system and what role a given organisation plays — unlike the GDPR, most obligations rest on providers of systems, and not on deploying entities.
