DODO Fundamentals Training

Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the Law Enforcement Directive) is the second pillar of the EU personal data protection reform, alongside the GDPR. However, reading and knowing the provisions alone is not enough to smoothly guide an organisation through the challenges of implementing them.

Learning from practice is essential. That is why during our training, our trainers – experts in personal data protection – will familiarise you with, among other things, current EDPB guidelines, UODO guidance and decisions, as well as their own experience and practical conclusions.

The training provides a practical introduction to the DODO Act.

Participants will learn about the scope of the Act, key concepts, principles of personal data processing, controller obligations, and the status and tasks of the Data Protection Officer under the Law Enforcement Directive.

DODO from the basics – questions and answers

What is the DODO Act?

The Act on the processing of personal data in connection with the prevention and combating of crime (DODO) implements Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the Law Enforcement Directive) into Polish law. It regulates the processing of personal data by law enforcement authorities and courts for purposes related to the detection and prosecution of offences, the conduct of criminal proceedings and the execution of sentences.

Who does the DODO Act apply to?

The DODO Act applies to public authorities and other entities entrusted with public tasks in the prevention and combating of crime – including, among others, the Police, the Border Guard, the City Guard, the Military Gendarmerie, the Prison Service, the Road Transport Inspection, public prosecutors and courts.

How does the DODO from the basics training differ from the RODO from the basics training?

The DODO from the basics training focuses exclusively on the provisions of the Act on the processing of personal data in connection with the prevention of crime – it is, alongside the GDPR, the second pillar of the reform of EU data protection rules. In the training we explain, among other things, when the DODO Act applies and when the GDPR applies, and what the specific obligations of entities covered by the Act are.

What will a participant receive upon completion of the training?

Every participant receives a certificate confirming attendance at the training, templates of DODO documentation, the presentation script, DODO Nawigator and post-training substantive support as part of ODO 24 Support. Additionally, a 25% discount applies to the Dr RODO application.

What is the training programme?

The training comprises 4 modules: Module I – the scope of the Act's application, concepts and principles of processing; Module II – obligations of the data controller; Module III – the status of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and the rights of data subjects; Module IV – the supervisory authority and selected transitional provisions.

How much does the DODO basic training cost?

The price of the training is PLN 550 net. Any person who pays at least 14 days before the scheduled date will receive a PLN 50 discount.
