Subject matter and objectives

1. This Regulation establishes provisions on the protection of individuals in connection with the processing of personal data and provisions on the free flow of personal data.

2. This Regulation protects the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, in particular their right to the protection of personal data.

3. It does not restrict or prohibit the free flow of personal data within the Union for reasons relating to the protection of individuals in connection with the processing of personal data.
