(33) At the time of data collection, it is often not possible to fully identify the purpose for which the personal data are processed for scientific research purposes; therefore, data subjects should be able to consent to certain areas of scientific research, provided that the studies comply with accepted ethical standards in the field of scientific research; data subjects should only be able to consent to certain areas of research or elements of research projects, if the intended purpose allows.
