Processing of personal data relating to convictions and prohibited acts

The processing of personal data relating to criminal convictions and offenses or related security measures pursuant to Article 6(1) may be carried out only under the supervision of public authorities or where such processing is authorized by Union law or the law of a Member State providing for appropriate safeguards for the rights and freedoms of data subjects. Any comprehensive registers of criminal convictions shall be maintained exclusively under the supervision of public authorities.
